As of 12:30 p.m. today Quent and I officially have caller id. So if you call and we don't answer, we probably are just so excited to read who is calling us that we forgot to answer the phone. It's taken me 10 months to talk Quent into calling the state to see if we can get caller id hooked up at the house and the hatchery and after about a week of trying, we were successful in getting it to work. Now for everyone that is not familiar with are phone system, below is a brief explanation of how things work down here.
Just how is your phone hooked up you ask? Well it comes from the jack in the wall like any other house. The difference is in how it gets to the house. Because we live out in the middle of no where, Qwest wouldn't run phone lines to the house or to the hatchery, so it's set up on a satellite system. Our phone is beamed from a satellite in town that hits a satellite at the school which then hits our water tank and then the hatchery building. From the hatchery building to our house there is a buried phone line just like any neighborhood would have.
