Well another Halloween has come and gone and no one came down to trick-or-treat at our house. Of course when you're the only house at the end of a 2.5 mile road outside of town, chances are slim that anyone would come down.
We did take a drive through town and I will admit it's the first time I have ever seen lights on in some of the houses. One house was all decorated for Halloween with several of the blowup decorations.

Stolen Pomegranates

It's pomegranate season here in Big Water and if you've got pomegranates growing on your tree you better pick them or someone will pick them for you. As in the case of the pomegranates you see in the picture. Quent along with some other fine Big Water folk helped themselves to some pomegranates from one of the local trees. Some say that the owner of the tree never picks them and they just fall to the ground and rot. So in our case we will be enjoying some stolen pomegranates in the near future.
On the bright side, we did actually buy some from one of our neighbors who likes to fertilize his pomegranates with his "special fertilizer". We don't ask questions about the special fertilizer or the bag of tea that he gave Quent because he didn't think he looked well while we were there. There are some things just left unsaid.

Daenan and Kelly ....
On Wednesday night Daenan and Kelly came over for dinner. We've tried to remember to get pictures of our dinner guests and we've done a pretty good job however this is the first picture of the "locals" that we've remembered to get.Dinner was complete with pot roast (at Quent's request), potatoes and carrots, salad and homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Kelly has moved to Baghdad, Arizona and was in town to help get things setup with the Church Wells fire department (a neighboring town). Daenan is a friend from the fire department and works as a medic down on the Hopi Indian Reservation.

What a Crazy Weekend...

Nicole, Alyssa, Joy and Morgan came to visit this past weekend we had a great time. From the time they arrived on Friday afternoon until they left earlier today it was kid central at the Bradwisch house.
Saturday included seeing the chickens, going to Lake Powell, eating pizza, frosting cookies, going on a treasure hunt and story time under the stars just before bed. Believe me we were all worn out after an action packed day.
Sunday was a little bit more relaxing. The girls helped Uncle Quent feed the rabbit and the chickens and then after naps we went over to the hatchery to see the fish and we even got to feed some in a pond. Sunday night after the little girls went to sleep the big girls got to hang out and play a friendly (or not so friendly) round of cards.
Monday morning the girls were both missing their dads so they headed back to Salt Lake to tell their dad's about the exciting weekend they had at Uncle Quent's and Aunt Cindy's.
It didn't take the girls long to get into Uncle Quent's coke stuff. They thought the pillow shams were mini-blankets, just for them. ![]() |

Morgan and Alyssa had a fun time playing in the cold water and digging in the sand.

Another Road Trip!
Quent and I drove to Roswell, New Mexico on Monday to pick up some fish that were scheduled to be stocked in the Virgin River near St. George, Utah at noon on Wednesday. We arrived in Roswell about 8 p.m. MDT on Monday night and had a quick dinner before heading to bed as we were both tired from the drive.
On Tuesday we had plenty of time to kill as we weren't scheduled to pick up the fish until 6 p.m. MDT and we had to be out of the hotel by 1 p.m. Quent suggested we go to the local fabric store to see if I could find anything I liked and of course, we ended up at Wal-mart and I found plenty that I liked.
I had never been to Roswell or New Mexico for that matter so Quent suggested we go to the UFO Museum in downtown Roswell so I could see for myself all the evidence that they have collected since July 1947 to prove that there was indeed a UFO crash in a field just south of town. After checking out all of the gift shops and wondering around town we headed over to Dexter to pick up the fish.
We departed New Mexico at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday night and made it home about 5 a.m. on Wednesday. In a span of 48 hours we drove about 1360 miles. I was just glad that John, Quent's technician agreed to pick up the fish from our house Wednesday morning at about 7 a.m. so we didn't have to drive an additional 2.5 hours to St. George.

Sad News...
On a sad note...my fish died on Wednesday. "Fish" as I called him had been my pet since April 2005. Quent was kind enough to dispose of the remains before I got out of bed that morning.
On a positive note we now have gold fish in the tank.

Rick & Ash Come to Visit
Rick and Ashley came down on Friday to see just where we live. We took them to breakfast on Saturday morning and then Quent took them out on the lake to winterize the boat. (I was stuck at home with the wildblue internet guys) On Sunday we just hung out and had breakfast before Rick and Ash had to head back to Salt Lake, they both had to be at work early Monday morning.
It was fun to have Rick & Ash come down to see us. They liked it so much they are already planning another trip for March.
Next weekend Joy, Nicole and the girls are coming to visit, who knew we'd be so popular.

Back Up And Running
I am still learning that when an appointment is set down here in good ol' southern utah, the time frame in which the services will be done is about 24 hours after the set appointment time.
I'm excited to say that we now are up and running with high speed internet. It was supposed to be set up on Friday but of course there was a problem so the installer couldn't come until Saturday. Of course I wasn't happy but they did come on Sunday and I feel like we're back a part of the real world with high speed.

Just a Big Hole In the Ground
On our way home from Flagstaff we went to the Grand Canyon as I didn't remember going there when I was 14. And like everyone said, it is just a big hole in the ground, a beautiful one, but none the less, a hole in the ground.
One thing that I will say is that the area that Quent and I live in is just as beautiful as the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell is better because you can take the boat out on the lake rather than hike down to the bottom as you have to do at the Grand Canyon. With that said, it is truly one of the most amazing places I have been and it was really fun to see the sites of the Grand Canyon.
Below are some pictures we took while visiting the most famous canyon in the world.

We're still around
It's been awhile since I posted - we're back to dial up internet since my blackberry died. And dial up internet down here is painfully slow. So now that I've complained, the good news is that our satellite internet will be hooked up on Friday and while it may not be as fast as I'm used too in the big city, it will be a millions times faster than my dial up connection at 26.4.
Last weekend we went to the big city (flagstaff, arizona) to watch a little league football game. What Quent forgot to tell me is that the game was being played in the NAU football dome. So in preparation for the game I checked the weather forecast and saw it was going to be cold, so I wore a long sleeve t-shirt, found the heaviest sweatshirt I could find and packed a jacket for the rain. About halfway to flagstaff he mentioned the dome and boy did I feel silly wearing not just the long sleeves but having two shirts on instead of one. We will post pictures from the weekend as soon as the faster internet service is set up.
We also used the weekend to do some shopping, we made the official, we're going to the big city list, so that we wouldn't forget anything. We managed to hit Home Depot, JoAnn's fabric store (Quent was a trooper, we spent close to three hours in the fabric store over the two days we were in Flagstaff.) and Sams Club.
We'll post more about the weekend as well as pictures on Friday!

We're Big Time!!!
Just a short note...Big Water has been in the newspaper twice in a week. By now everyone has heard about the gigantic dinosaur fossil they found out on the Escalate National Monument right in Big Water's back yard and just today the new Arman Resort was featured in the Tribune. I have included links to both articles below.
And for those of you who are planning on visiting us, why not just purchase a villa at the new resort. After all, Utahns are getting first crack at the first eight villas, all you'll need is a mere 6.5 million *or more as the article states* to purchase one.

Keeping Busy
I've been asked several times since I moved down here what I have been doing to keep busy. I've sorted through some of my boxes although I still have a few more to go through and figure out where I am going to put all of my things. Between the two of us, we have a lot of STUFF.

I made this baby rag quilt yesterday.
I have also been researching a few things that I can do at home in between NBA gigs. I've done some sewing and am looking at selling some things on ebay. I am also working with a friend who just purchased an internet business to sell mini-helmets (www.helmetnation.com). I am helping him redesign the site an working with new design and logo concepts. The site that is up right now is the old site, we are going to slowly roll out changes to the site.
